Just beginning to plan

There will be four of us visiting India for the first time 2010. Two of us are experienced travelers and two are not. We want to locate a reputable, eco-friendly and responsible tour company that will work with us to design a tailor made trip.

We have had very good luck in with trips in the past using local tour companies. If you have a recommnedation please pass it along.

You may checkout Mercury Himalayan Explorers (www.himalayanadventure.com) an established and reputed Eco Tourism Outfit. It is run by an Ex Indian Army Officer who has been highly decorated for his adventure activities. He%26#39;s climbed Everest too.

Another choice is Jungle Lodges %26amp; Resorts (www.junglelodges.com) however, their operations are more focussed on Southern part of India.

Hope this helps !

Hi Marcoman, I have used the facilities of a company that organised my first visit to India in 2001. Nature Expeditions India. They are highly reputable and have been operational, I understand, for over 100 years. They have proposed, and then booked for me, hotels north and south in India. They booked cars and rail journeys. They seem to have operatives in every corner of India. I had a problem only once in India, in Orccha. The problem persisted until I phoned Altaf. Within about 3 minutes, whatever he said, the problem just vapourised. I would recommend you check them out.

Here are their details I copied from their site.
