goa not busy

why is goa not busy whatis going off

goa not busy

Er....credit crunch

goa not busy

its never stopped people be4

my mum has been there for 3month and its been .... since she has been there.

';its never stopped people be4 ';

I can%26#39;t remember things being so bad before here in the UK.

Retired people who rely on their savings have seen their standard of living drop because of falling interest rates.

Food costs have rocketed - dried pasta, tinned corned beef, tins of tomatoes etc.

Utility prices increased by stupid amounts.

Cheap credit is a thing of the past.

Number of repossesions up.

Number of unemployed up.

Businesses going into administration.

When people are struggling to live, one of the first things to go is holidays.

Add that to Goa specific issues like:

Increased prices in accommodation (we%26#39;ve been to Candolim Nov %26amp; Feb for the last few years and this year the prices are significantly higher)

Teething problems with visas because of the outsourcing

Cost of visas compared with other countries

Bombings in Mumbai plus reports of potential terrorist attacks in Goa

No markets

10 pairs of sunbeds per shack rule

Increased cost of food/drink

etc etc

and you may just have your answer.

Nice one PPC

Thats excatly what i was trying to say....

Hi Prettypolly cat,

I think that just about covers it but if u don%26#39;t mind I%26#39;ll just add that I personally don%26#39;t know anyone who hasn%26#39;t been effected by the credit crunch and those of us lucky enough to be having hols are either working a huge number of extra hours to pay for it or/and are making lots of other sacrifices to be able to afford it.

I consider myself very lucky to be having a holiday and intend to enjoy every minute of it.

Badgerlad - that%26#39;s exactly what you DID say! I just talk too much. LOL

Charity

I agree with you, a friend of mine has just been put on a 4 day week.

My Mum %26amp; Dad have seen the interest on their savings halve over the last year and would be in an even worse position if I hadn%26#39;t sorted them out a fixed term fixed rate account.

One thing I missed out of the list was:

the weak pound!

This makes holidays to places with the euro damn expensive.

Goa has been our pre Christmas (Nov/Dec) %26amp; post Christmas (Feb/March) destination for a number of years.

We%26#39;ve seriously struggled to find an alternative destination to suit us.

So, all you people who say you%26#39;re not going to return to Goa - WHERE ARE YOU GOING NEXT? AND IS THERE ROOM FOR ME?

Well said PPC...great list!

Just another thing to add to your list, although you sort of covered it. IMHO, The majority of the tourist market in Goa is domestic Indians and many of them will also be suffering from everything on your list.

That sounds like mumbo jumbo, but I hope you get what I mean!

Also, another thought....

With Goa being more of a winter destination, people may cut back on a second holiday and just have 1 holiday, in the main summer season!

Susie.

Its also because there are far less tour operators with flights to Goa now compared to a few years back now we have the big two not four.

Don%26#39;t think the number of tour operators has anything to do with the numbers down in Goa. Even the 2 that are flying in are not coming in full (there were postings on here earlier saying Monarch were coming here half empty) and some were even cancelled.

More people are coming to Goa on schedule as they are fed up with the way charters are operating, the

Heathrow - Bangalore route is getting popular as is Sri Lanka airways via Columbo and some of these prices have been as cheap as charters.
