Trip Report

Came back last Tue.Wanted to leave it a while to see how I really felt as journey and jet lag can colour opinions.Flew with FirstChoice/Thomson was really good food entertainment ace.As stated by others ,arrival is hectic to say the least but was greeted by Charlotte Thomson rep who was lovely and gave us all water for transfer.Very early am transfer from airport is culture shock, hubby was a bit anxious I was going to want to go home.As we got nearer Baga sun came out and things looked better still rubbish everywher but you also see the colours everywhere and meeting an elephant on the street was exciting.

Stayed at Santiago.Have wrote review so won%26#39;t repeat my feelings but it wasn%26#39;t great.Location however was ace once Charlotte told us short cut.

First night on beach for cocktails I burst out crying when we said No to 2 little girls trying to sell me necklaces.Needless to say that I soon toughend up and realise this was something I would have to deal with.Second day visited Children Walking Tall at Mango House with big bag of booty -well worth the visit, kids so happy , well behaved and polite.

Baga beach was ok bit crowded but not as much as Calangute. There was still loads of sunbeds and shacks to choose from.Bottle Bay looks nice and food excellent but expensive compaired to others .We went to Big Banana one day and spent some time talking to the man in charge he was lovely.Spent most time in Andrews where staff were less pushy and food, drink ultra cheap.Had tuna sizzler at Lucky Star that must have had about £15 of tuna by sainsburys prices and was lovely.

Did trips through Thomson(yes we know we could have done cheaper-but lazy).Did the falls which was ace and overnight to Cola Beach in Rajastani tents so romantic.Struggled with heat and humidity ,mozzie bites and both had Delhi Belly(first ever in both our cases),tennacity of taxi drivers to take you somewhere when you say no,sellers trying to sell you things you dont want but I guess thats Goa very different from last 4 hols to various places in Italy.Did buy loads as got some real bargins .Ace hammock, tshirts for kids, ankle chains usual stuff.

Did lovely walk(route march from aBaga to Anjuna along the cost stopped at little shack half way which was gorgeous.Highlight was hiring Enfied and getting out and about went to Ashwen and Morjim we loved it there so peaceful.Nerve wracking journey though but bizzarly once you are part of the traffic it has a kind of flow and people are actually less aggressive that in England.Visited Panjim at night ate at Quartermasters on the river meal was lovely.Had an odd experience at Fort Aguada when Indian family arrived and all wanted to be filmed with me -don%26#39;t think they had ever seen someone put sun protection on and were facinated. Also slightly uncomfortable when abou 7 young Indian boys run over to me sat on my own in the sea and started filming each other practically sat on me but got up and walked away. When we left we were unsure about how we felt but I thinkif we had been happier with our hotel our experience may have been a more pleasant one.

On saying that we wouldn%26#39;t rule Goa out but would probably go far north or south as wasn%26#39;t keen on commercialism all the time, but its a big old world out there and I intend to see as much as I can.

Trip Report

I love reading trip reports from fellow travellers and yours does not disappoint. Due to travel out on Sunday (Goan virgins) and not looking forward to the airport either. Got one night at Rajastani tents, sounds good from what you say. Going South for our two week stay as do not want anything too commercialised.

Time to start saving for your next holiday now!!

Trip Report

Great report FW

Thanks

Thanks was worried people may have thought I was negative. Although there were things that I was not keen on and was a bit anti on my return after a few days after the dust settled I ealised the good points outweighed the bad.

Enjoyed reading your report - the good and the bad. Suggest you try the south next time (maybe Cavelossim) as it%26#39;s not as manic as Baga/Calangute and not as dirty either. Glad to hear you%26#39;re not ruling Goa out for future but you%26#39;re right it is a big world with lots of different places to visit.

Good honest post, loved it, warts an all.

its what people want to hear, real opinions.

Bet you go back though!!!

thanks, BOB.

hi great read x

Enjoyed reading that fw, thankyou :)

Great report. I don%26#39;t get asked so often these days (age, sigh) to have my photograph taken with people, but it does still happen - and outside Goa it happens all the time. I don%26#39;t know how many mantelpieces I%26#39;m on!!

Thanks for taking the trouble to share that with us all.

a lovely honest report.

love the elephant bit, that did it for me as well.

thanks
