visa farce

after reading everyones reveiws about the visas we thought it cant happen to us.we are off to calangute on saturday nite,4 weeks ago we sent passports away with all the required documents including the prepaid registered envelope so there would be know problems. so on monday still no passports eileen phones edinburgh who tell her that they have not received any mail from us. so after ah few tears she calls the helpline and they tell us the passports are available for collection in edinburgh. so after ah 2 hour drive i get to the immigration, they get stroppy because you do not know your passport no,i also had to have photograghic proof and i could not get my wifes passport as she had to be there in person. so tommorrow we are off to edinburgh once more. so i would probably advise anyone to make ah day of it when going to get your visa s. hand it in personally then lunch ah few drinks and HOPEFULLY pick it up in the after noon,

visa farce

That sounds a bit odd to me. However, as far as I know there%26#39;s absolutely no chance of you handing the passports in in the morning and getting them back the same day. Even if you go in person, you have to go back a couple of days later to collect the passports with visas.

visa farce

hi lgg i thought last year was ah farce there was ah visa surgery in glasgow which supposedly opened @9am i arrived @8 30am thinking i would be first in the queue when i got inside there must have been about 90 people in front oh me so i waited nearly 3 hours to be called, the indian guy was only checking the form and said thats fine (i thought i was getting the visas)he then gave me another ticket and said be back for 1pm i got there @1250 as i sat down the three indian guys who were giving out the visas decided to go for lunch. which created at bit of bother by all the people who were waitin, after about 70 mns they all came back ,and 3hrs after that it was my my turn to collect our visas. so after all that i thought it would be easier this year to do it all by post HEY BUT WHAT DO I KNOW

Oh, I%26#39;m not disbelieving you - I had a miserable time last year and the year before getting visas in London for much the same reason. I was just pointing out that you can%26#39;t hand passports in and pick up visa on the same day any more.

Having had to apply for visas for the last three years, i have actually found this system to be the most stress free of them all.

There were a few teething problems at the start of the season, but i think the VFS have got there act together.

If you follow all the advice given on here by MEERKAT and others i don%26#39;t believe you should have a problem.

IMHO

There is definitely not a same day service, sorry. I%26#39;m lucky to live quite near the VFS office in Hayes, filled all the forms out via the website first, dropped passport and forms off, they stated quite clearly that it then takes 3 working days to process. You can track online exactly when the passport is ready for collection. Picked passport back up yesterday, took about 5 minutes. I know this advice isn%26#39;t much use to anyone living a long way from the offices, but VFS seem quite efficient to me.

As LGG and the others have said, you can no longer get visa issued on the same day.

In London i believe there are 3 places where you can hand in your application, Goswell Road EC2, Victoria and Hayes. I took mine into Goswell Road, tracked it online and went back 3 days later to collect it.
