Just arrived back on TOM354 early hts sat morn, we left man 12/02 on time but was in gatwick for 2 hrs and waited 5 1/2hrs for refreshments to come round.
On return it got worse 1 1/2hrs delay leaving goa and when at gatwick after 2 1/2hrs had to leave plane in gatwick (after orange juice and biscuit came round, so don%26#39;t get too excited u only get these if delayed)due to technical fault, after 5 hr delay got on coach back to man in total 9hrs late by time arrived in man. We got no other refreshments only orange juice and biscuit on plane so if you had no money to buy food in gatwick tough luck!Don%26#39;t normally moan but I will be writing to first choice as when booked hol wasn%26#39;t told bout stopping at gatwick and will never do this flight again would rather go on monarch and stop at bahrain!
Thompson flight 353/354 won't do this flight again!
Hi Tilly,
I am so sorry to hear you had so much trouble with your flights. So may flights go without a hitch, so to be on one that causes you all those issues must have been incrediable frustrating. Hopefully most of your memories will be of a fantastic holiday though.
Thompson flight 353/354 won't do this flight again!Thats really unusual for Thomson.
They have been ok whenever we have used them.
They can%26#39;t really help if if there%26#39;s a technical fault on the plane but I would expect at least a meal voucher in Gatwick Airport - orange juice and biscuits is a joke! Hope you enjoyed yourselves whilst you were in Goa though it%26#39;s not a good end to your holiday.
Sorry to hear about that Tilly! It%26#39;s awful when a great holiday is spoilt by the final bit.
I%26#39;ve been monitoring the 353/4 flights from Manchester for a couple of months now and your flights are the first that have had any delay on.
Just one thing though...(not withstanding how you were treated) I would rather the plane stayed on the ground with a technical fault than put up!!
Anyway...welcome back to cold old UK with more snow forecast just around the corner!!
We had the same problem in December. It would appear all Thursday flights go via Gatwick. We were delayed 3 hours in Goa due to a technical fault then delayed a further 3 hours sitting on the tarmac at Gatwick because our original pilot couldn%26#39;t wait for us as he was flying onto somewhere else. The TVs were all turned off couldn%26#39;t get of for a smoke and got a biscuit and crap orange juice for our troubles!!! Hopefully Thomas Cook will be better in January.
Hi Tilly
sorry to hear about the problems with your flights.
Whilst I agree with everybody about technical problems, I%26#39;d find it very annoying to think I%26#39;d booked a flight from Manchester to Goa and then later found out it was going via Gatwick.
I%26#39;d rather travel Monarch non-stop from Gatwick. LOL
But thats fine if you live near Gatwick. For a large percentage of us, we live no where near Gatwick and so Manchester is our only option!
Not counting the two hour drive to get to Manchester....arrghhh :-(
I think that those of us that are lucky enough to live near Gatwick (in my case only about a 15-20 drive) we tend to take it forgranted and this forum has been a real eye opener, certainly to me, about just how lucky we are.
Hi Tilly, Sounds like a nightmare scenario, Commiserations !! Thos Cook fly direct Mcr / Goa 9 Hrs 40 mins ish Flying on the 23rd will report here when we return. Hope you had a wonderful time despite the transport problems.
Regards
Rolf
hi folks,
Tilly do sorry sbout your delays. We used to fly Manchester via Birmingham which was Britannia, we flew to Birmingham from Mancheser no drink nothing zilch, after 2 hour on the tarmac at Birminghm off-loaded due to technical fault, 8hrs in Birmingham £2 voucher, later on the flight when everyone was snoozing the flight attendants came around with Ice-cream, on return had to leave the plane at Birmingham awaiting a crew coming from Manchester held up on the Motorway due to a crash, and if we needed a comfort break we had to show our passport.
Everyone knocks Monarch, we have had a few small delays over the years but this last visit(our last visit to Goa) we landed 1 hour early.
