wine in baga

hi all - we%26#39;re off to Baga next week and wondering if anyone can recall any restaurants that sell drinkable red wine! we went to most of the restaurants in arpora last year and only found wine in all-spice that was remotely drinkable. we found most of the stuff tasted either like cheap port or some sort of home-made disaster! we ain%26#39;t connoisseurs by the way - only drink the house wine in pubs but we do like some plonk with a meal!! - cheers

i agree the red wine tastes like port %26amp; white chemically. Didnt find any good wines last year tried all those recommended. This year we plan to take a red %26amp; white wine box duty free shouldnt have any problems drinking in hotel as we are al but when we eat out plan to drink cocktails

Most restaurants sell imported wines now but they are not cheap, about the same price as you would pay here eating out.

Having just got back and missing Goa already...If you like red try Sula Satori Merlot, Kim Faa sell this although it%26#39;s not on their wine list, it%26#39;s widely available in other restaurants and about 460 Rs in the wine shop. If you like rose, try Madeara Rose only 198 Rs from the wine shop and about 500 Rs in the restaurants, again it%26#39;s not always listed. For white try Sula Sauvignon Blanc. The rose and whites are fine if they%26#39;re served cold and in an ice bucket that has lots of ice in and not water and a few cubes!! Happy hols :)

Imported Aussie wines are expensive - Hardy%26#39;s Stamp Shiraz about 拢20 a bottle. Most Indian Red wines are more like port, but we did have some merlot from %26#39;Chateau Indage%26#39; (700r) which was drinkable - especially after the first couple of glasses!

I have yet to find a wine here in Goa where I think ';that%26#39;s nice'; when I taste it and also reasonably priced. IMHO it all tastes like cheap plonk at non cheap plonk prices. I would expect to like it after the first taste at the prices they charge for it.

The more expensive stuff is ok but would not want to pay more than UK price for a bottle of drinkable wine.
