Easter and Goa

Hi

We are coming to Goa over the Easter period for 2 weeks - will things still be open? A friend said everything may close down over Easter ....!

Also, how do we get a driver/taxis - can you get them in the street or do they need to be ordered? What is the safest way? Does this differ at night if we are going to clubs? What%26#39;s the safest way to get back home ....

Thanks!

Easter and Goa

Hi, most things will still be open over Easter.

Lots of taxis on the street but late at night you may need to book at this time of year. Most taxi drivers will have business cards or will let you have their mobile number.

Easter and Goa

We were there at Easter last year, in the South, and most of the beach shacks were closed on Good Friday, so be careful to get some food in for your lunch etc, just in case this happens.

The South is very quiet though, so in Candolim it will probably be all open.

We have been 6 times at Easter and its very unpredictable some close Good Fri some Easter Sun and Mon. Suza Lobos didnt know on the Thursday when they were open. However they are never all shut.

Taxis are very easy to get - infact it%26#39;s almost impossible to get away from them. If you are on the beach, just walk up the nearest street and there will be plenty. Anywhere in the towns there will be taxis everywhere, especially outside restaurants and hotels. We have never had any problems with taxi drivers but do make sure you negotiate the price for the journey before you get in. It%26#39;s certainly worth offering a lower fare than they originally ask for.

Have a great time - we are also there this easter.

Some friends of mine were in Goa the first two weeks of April last year (two weeks after Easter) and most places were open. They did say however that there were a few shacks that started to close/be taken down towards the end of their holiday.

The Goans will be expecting a ';bit of a rush'; during this years two week Easter holiday and so I wonder with such a quiet season so far, they will all stay open hoping for a bit of extra business.

I arrive on the 3rd April and so I hope so!!
