Slumdog Millionnaire?

Hi,

Who has seen Danny Boyle%26#39;s Slumdog Millionnaire. If you have seen it, what did you think of it?

Slumdog Millionnaire?

Fab film...must see..bril.

We saw it before we had booked for India, although id already made my mind up and sent off for visa. I thought hubby wouldnt want to go after seeing the film, but if anyting he became more enthusiastic!

And its just won ';best film';

Slumdog Millionnaire?

Seen it, not one to sit and watch films but because of Goa thought i must see it,i really enjoyed it.

11 DAYS TO GO.

Fantastic film..Great insight into life in Dharavi the largest slum on earth and also the place where our high street clothes are made,Makes me feel a little guilty sometimes.Ive been to Mumbai many times but never visited the Dharavi area,I think it would be fascinating. It was good to see That Danny Boyle used local kids for the film and also used the Hindi language.

This film is based on book Q and A by Vikram Swarup - if there are any copies left you can buy it in Oxford Book shop near the church in the middle of the road in Calangute. Think it was about 350rps. Since the film was released I have a waiting list of people who want to read the copy I bought 2 years ago.

Whisper - you can buy a good copy of the film from the beach sellers for 100rps. Don%26#39;t buy from the young kids - they are getting covers and putting blank cd%26#39;s in them.

Two interesting websites

www.realitytoursandtravel.com/slumtours.html

doing this in a couple of weeks so will let you know what it is like.

…blogspot.com/2007/…ethics-of-what-i-do.html

an interview with the guy who runs the tours.

As Jeera says above, you can buy copies from the beach sellers, there is one particular guy on Candolim Beach who actually has a portable DVD player so you can see the copy.

And if you only pay 100rups you dont mind if its not perfect but watchable.

Brilliant film, and Danny Boyle is from Bolton

Dear Jeera -

You posted a link above to an interview with ';the guy that runs the tours';.

That is an interview of me, actually.

Female :) not male.

I was asked about the ethics of taking people to slums, and wrote that piece as a response.

Dear Deepa, respect to you and thanks. x

Its a great piece of writing Deepa.I have experienced the beggars at traffic lights but not yet had a chance to see the more industrious hard working third side to the life of mumbais poor.
