Umaid Mahal - is this a good place to stay???

Hello people,

This will be my very first visit to Jaipur and needed some help from you guys!!! I am travlling in April...

I was thinking of staying at Umaid Mahal (because of a good deal) there are 7 of us travelling, 4 adults and 3 children (8, 13, 14 years old).

1) Is this hotel in a decent location and is there stuff to do around there? We will have our own car with us that we are hiring out.

2) Can we still go to the Chowki Dhani during the evening if we are not actually staying in the villiage?

3) Can we get Elephant Rides from anywhere nearby?

4) Do you reccomend this hotel or can is there an alternative that someone may suggest?

Thanking you in advance for your help...

In answer to your Qs -

1 - The hotel is in Bani Park which is quite central but a residential area. Since you have a car you should not be worried about having to stuff around. The sightseeing is a bit away. Just use the car.

2 - Yes you can go and have dinner at the Chokhi Dhani even if youre not staying there

3 - Elephant ride is at Amer Fort

4 - Whats your budget for the hotel per room per night?

Thankyou for the quick reply.

We are looking at getting 2 rooms (3 adults per room as i have been told that my 13%26amp;14 year old need their own beds).

I am looking to spend approx £50 per night per room so in total £200-£250 (Rs. 15,000 - Rs. 18, 750).

3 of the people going with us are from Delhi - do you think that they would get a better rate?

Thanking you again

forgot to add those prices are for all of us in total ...

UKP 50 is a good budget. Look at Alsisar Haveli - www.alsisar.com or Narain Niwas - www.hotelnarainniwas.com. Theyll match your budget if this is for the off season upto September. Remember business is bad now so you should be able to squeeze the hotels.
