Finding Like-Minded Travellers in Mahabalipuram

I%26#39;ll be visiting M%26#39;puram over Spring Break, and I%26#39;m hoping to get together with other American/Western travellers to swap tales and compare notes. Can anyone point me to hostels, cafes or other spots where I%26#39;m likely to find similar wandering souls?

Thanks

Finding Like-Minded Travellers in Mahabalipuram

There are quite a few %26#39;tourist spots%26#39; like Shore Temple, Arjuna%26#39;s penance, Krishna%26#39;s butter ball etc at M%26#39;puram which are full of the tourist crowd - especially from the west.

While there are no speicific hangouts at M%26#39;puram itself, you can meet up with them at any of these spots or some of them hang around at other spots like Crocodile Farm, Fishcove, Dakshin Chitra etc on the way to M%26#39;puram and Pondy.

M%26#39;puram is not that large so the chances of meeting up with other travellers is high. There is a main road which runs right through the town/village and here you will find eating places and rooms for rent.

Look out for the places where the stone carvers work. There are usually a few young chaps that like

to hang out there and try their hand at the carving.

Enjoy your time there it is a fascinating area to visit.
