I have a very long layover in the New Delhi airport. I will be arriving from Amsterdam at 10:50 pm and will be departing for Nepal at 12:55 pm the next day. I would prefer not to have to get a visa and instead wait it out in the airport.
Is this possible?
Will the Nepal flight leave from the International terminal or the Domestic terminal?
Long Layovers and Visas
Hi ,
Nepal Visa you can get very easily on arrival in Nepal.
Long Layovers and Visas
International Airport, the same one you arrive.
for such long layover i%26#39;m not sure...
I would book myself a hotel for the night with such a long layover. The Delhi airport is undergoing renovation/reconstruction and there is really nothing much to do around in the area.
For the priviledge of landing in India you need a visum. As you board another plane, a transit visum is enough, you can stay up yo 72 hours with it. To get this visum, you%26#39;ll need to show your onward flight ticket. Don%26#39;t try to fly to India without a visum, you might beiing denied boarding your plane.
The flight to Nepal is from the International airport, upstairs from the departures. To get there, you have to exit the arrivals, go upstairs and enter the departure hall. If you%26#39;re returning the same way, you%26#39;ll need a double enry transit visum.
Thank you Bhutantraveler, that was the information I was looking for.
Cheers
IF you stay within the transit lounge of the International airport and do not venture outside, you will not need a visa.
Of course, you will need to arrange to have your luggage transferred as well. If you can through check it to Nepal from AMS, then ok. Otherwise, you will have to go pick up your luggage after passing immigration, and you will require a transit Visa.
Brave1, can you please tell me which companies can check luggage straight to KTM?
All times I passed Delhi, I had to collect it and check in again in the departure hall. If any company will check luggage through, this will save a lot of trouble and money. Except... with all the disorder going on in Delhi airport, I don%26#39;t know if it is wise to wish my luggage being sent without seeing it. Anyhow, we have to know in advance if check through is possible, as arranging visa takes time. Thank you for your answer.

Bhutantraveller,
Checking luggage straight through is only a good possibility if you are making both inbound to Delhi and outbound flight on the same airline, maybe Jet or Air India. However, as you correctly assume, it is not a good idea given the state of affairs at Delhi airport. Its safer to get a transit visa, collect the luggage yourself and check in again.
A 24 hour wait is a very long wait indeed. The OP will do well to take Dilli_Billis%26#39;s advice and check into a nearby hotel.
