Hi
Please take care on the beach as it would have been nigh on impossible to have performed a rescue in the seas here yesterday.
The beach was overwhelmed by unseasonal tides yesterday with the sea reaching the sea wall/ promenade.
People on sunbeds were caught unaware as the sea left sunbathers and apparel soaked.
The debris washed out from the beach and promenade area left the beach and sea questionable to say the least.
The Hindu reports that 25 houses were flooded with fishing boats and equipment damaged on the high tide of last evening and emergency assistance was being put into place.

Huge seas hit Kovalam yesterday
However, to stop people worring that damage has been done in Kovalam and along Lighthouse Beach (which it has not), it should be mentioned that the damage was at Beemapally, Poonthura, Cheriyamuttam, Sanghumukham and Valiathura areas. You can read the story at:-

The huge waves were caused but a storm out at sea which is why they were unusual for this time of year.

Hi
Yesterday again saw heavy seas and big tides washing right into the sea wall and promenade. The works on the new promenade had to be defended from the sea but still the sea breached the works in places.
be careful if you venture into the sea in or around high tide which is in the afternoon.
Regards
Ian
