Ideas re combining Udaipur, Agra and Bandhavgarh???

Hi,

We are going to Mumbai next week -- and have been thinking about leaving there for 4 days or so and trying to get to Udaipur, Agra and Bandhavgrh?

Any ideas about how feasible it is to pull this off? Should we fly from Mumbai to Udaipur and then do the rest via train/car?

Ideas re combining Udaipur, Agra and Bandhavgarh???

Not doable in 4 days. Max you could do would be Agra/Jaipur/Udaipur in 5 days. You need to add Jaipur as you cant go directly from Agra to Udaipur

Ideas re combining Udaipur, Agra and Bandhavgarh???

Bandhavgarh is not easily accessible. The nearest airport is 4-5 hours drive. There are two major airports - Khajuraho, which is 140 miles, and Jabalpur, 120 miles. You need at least 3 game drives in Bandhavgarh to be able to really experience it. Khajuraho with its famous erotic temples also needs 1 day. A visit to Bandhavgarh/Khajuraho and back to Mumbai will take 4 days.

There are Mumbai-Udaipur flights. You can do 2 nights in Udaipur (one day for sightseeing in Udaipur, and one day for a day trip to Ranakpur). From there, you can take an overnight train to Jaipur, or fly to Jaipur. Then drive from Jaipur to Agra (5 hours). So your itinerary would be:

Day 1: Mumbai to Udaipur, Udaipur sightseeing

Day 2: Udaipur/Ranakpur, overnight train to Jaipur (or overnight Udaipur and next am fly to Jaipur)

Day 3: Drive Jaipur-Agra, see Agra Fort

Day 4: See Taj at dawn, drive 5 hours to Delhi airport for connecting flight to Mumbai

It isn%26#39;t really a very nice itinerary, but that%26#39;s how you need to do it if you want to combine Udaipur and Agra in 4 days. It would be much better if you had an extra day to explore Jaipur, and then went to Agra.

4 days is too tight Deepa. Min 5 days required for Bom-Udr-Jai-Agr

Yes agreed, 4 days is too little.

Another factor to keep in mind is the time of day that you arrive ( at Jabalpur, for example). You need to factor in a 4 hour drive to Bandvagarh, and you may miss the window for a jungle safari on that day-they are usually at around 3PM and 6 AM. In that case a whole day is written off, out of the four available.

You can do Udaipur + Agra.....

Fly to Udaipur, overnight train to agra, then train to delhi and fly back to Mumbai.

It works slightly better the other way around, flying to Delhi first, then train to Agra, then you have a choice of 2 overnight trains to Udaipur, one from Agra Fort, the other from Bharatpur (convenient if you%26#39;re visiting Fathepur Sikri, and both trains can be taken from Bharatpur).

Or you can do Agra + Bandhavgarh.....

There%26#39;s an overnight train in each direction between Agra Cant and Umaria (closest train station to Bandhavgarh).

There are also overnight trains in both directions between Katni (60kms from Bandhavgarh) and Mumbai.

So if you include a flight to Delhi and train to Agra, the Agra-Bandhavgarh route is possible.

Getting last minute train tickets may be a problem though.

Have a look at www.erail.in for the train options.
