Need tips on 1/2 day Bangalore sightseeing.

I am from Mumbai - would be visting Bangalore/Mysore in May.

I am planning to board a early morning Bangalore flight on 1st May (holiday) which would reach Bangalore Airport around 8.30 am.

1%26gt; Can I get a cab from Airport for 1/2 day Bangalore sightseeing (9am - 1pm) + what would be the approx fare ??

2%26gt; After this, I would like to catch Tipu Express from Bangalore station at 2.15pm for Mysore - Does this travel plan look realistic or too tight ??

3%26gt; If instead of train, I go from Bangalore to Mysore by cab - What would be the cab fare ??

PLEASE HELP ME OUT.

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

I can take a look and let you know after March 10. The exit from Bangalore airport is so astonishingly quick using the rank for the metered Meru, KSTDC and Easy Cabs that I have not really bothered to look around, although my impression is that there are cars on hire.

Cabs will charge you computing mileage both ways-about 300 kms and will cost about Rs 8-10 per km, depending on the vehicle; The advantage is that you will save some time.

You can also get onto the non-stop Chennai Mysore Shatabdi which leaves Bangalore City around 11AM, so going directly there from the airport is another option-you should be able to reach there around 10-10.15 if you land around 8.30.

Took a look at the cab companies at Bangalore airport. Other than Meru, etc, I could see only Hertz and Akbar TRavels. You can check their rates from here, but a cuz who recently used Hertz from airport paid double what we pay by Meru, etc.

I have the numbers of Vellara Travels in Bangalore. We use them occasionally. They are alright. I will not give them an excellent rating, but my expectations are usually high. The numbers are +91-80-25635416, +91-80-55358767, +919880660644 and the owner%26#39;s number is +919880316005.

Perhaps Gjo could help you with numbers of other firms.

Yes, Hertz is an expensive proposition probably anywhere in India. Meru and Easy cabs are the best bet.

I%26#39;m afraid you can%26#39;t do any worthwhile sight seeing after you land and before you leave for Mysore. Assuming everything is a breeze, you%26#39;ll be out of the airport only by 9AM (or much later). You can reach the centre of Bangalore only by around 10.30 (peak hour - you see). Which leaves you with about 3 hours. Depending on your interest, you can visit any ONE place in Bangalore before taking the train to Mysore.

Alternatively, as someone else suggested, just take the Shatabdi straight out of Bangalore to Mysore. Works out cheaper and you wont waste time. And then look out for a cab in Mysore.
