Cash or Travellers Cheques

Hello all, My wife and I are Goan virgins and have read with interest the topics on this forum, we travel to Goa in 4 weeks and have a dillema about our spending money whether to take all sterling cash or travellers cheques or a mixture, I would really be grateful for any advice on whats best from your experience. Many thanks.

Cash or Travellers Cheques

Hi Ivan Sam

We only ever take cash to be honest.

This year got Nationwide flex account card too.

Cash or Travellers Cheques

I%26#39;ve always taken travellers cheques in the past though my OH takes cash. For a few extra pounds I prefer the security of travellers cheques and last time we went I got slightly more to the pound than he did. You need to take your passport with you the first time you change them but providing you go back to the same place they don%26#39;t usually need it again after that.

I%26#39;m with Gemma on that one and prefer the security of travellers cheques (sterling). Although we do take a couple of hundred in cash too.

Hi Ivan travellers cheques and about £150 in cash for us.

Do you all write down the numbers of the cheques before you lose them?

This all depends on where you are staying - do you have a safety deposit box etc.

Would not like to be walking round with all my money in my pocket or leaving it ';hidden'; in a guest house.

At least you have some comeback if cheques are stolen or lost.

Did you mean lose or use Badgerlad lol. Of course we do. I always keep the numbers separate from the cheques (like you%26#39;re told to do!) and also leave a copy of them at home or with my parents too.

I always write down the numbers and take one copy with me (separated from the TCs) and leave the other at home just in case I need to call our son to access the numbers.

I%26#39;m like the Queen, never carry money, leave that to the OH! lol

hi ivandsam - im a Goan virgin 2 and as always you will get so many answers on here - we go in 23days and we%26#39;ve decided to open a flex a/c with nationwide as at the moment dont charge for ATM use - but will take some t.C and a little cash and just bought a padlock to take as reckomended by other trip advisors on this forum?
