Dona Sylvia April 2009

I am travelling with my wife and 3 children to Dona Sylvia in April. Could anybody please tell me if they have a bureau de exchange in the hotel itself? If not how far away is the nearest one? Can any one suugest any good excursions for us to go on, our children are aged 10,11 and 12. Many thanks.

I am off with my hubby to the Dona Sylvia on the 21st March. We have been told there is a bureau in reception but the exchange rate isn%26#39;t good. Apparently there is a chemist not far from the hotel that does a much better rate.

As for trips, seem to be quite a few on offer but all depends on what type of thing you are looking for.

This is our first visit too. I have been on this forum for months now and picked up so many useful tips from a bunch of lovely people. Ask anything and someone will help.

I wouldn%26#39;t change money in the hotel. You can change it at D%26#39;Mello%26#39;s chemist or Jai International both a short walk away from the hotel if you turn left out of the gates.

We went on Betty%26#39;s boat trip and went out to sea dolphin spotting in the morning and then sailed down the river Sal in the afternoon with an excellent lunch of garlic prawns and king fish included. The website address is: http://www.bettysgoa.com/cruise.htm

Trip was so good that we did it 2 weeks running and will probably do the same again this time!

Steve (one of the brothers) has a new boat and the day starts by going out to look for the dolphins, then back up the river Sal. You can have as much as you want to drink and lunch (we had garlic butter prawns, kingfish with rice and vegetable curry, followed by a fruit cocktail).

The staff on the boat are wonderful, really helpful, pointing out lots of things that we would probably have missed. There is also entertainment, singer and guitarist, great fun!
