Drive time from Pune to Mumbai airport

I will be in Pune on business, and will need to get to Mumbai that same day for a 12:55 am flight early the next morning (to Amsterdam, then Detroit). I figure we will leave Pune at 3-4 pm, how much time will it take to be driven to Mumbai? Can anyone recommend a convenient hotel at the Mumbai airport to spend a few hours in before needing to get to the airport (assuming I will have the time)?

Pune to Mumbai airport is about 4 hrs. If there%26#39;s less traffic, you could make it in 3-/12 hrs but I think, it%26#39;s safe to assume that it%26#39;s going to take you 4 hrs. If you leave at 3.30 pm, you should reach by 7.30-8.00 pm. For a 12.55 am flight, you%26#39;ll need to report around 10.00 pm. So, i think you have just sufficient time for dinner. There are some 5-star hotels close to the international airport where you could have your dinner,. The hotels are ITC Maratha, Hyatt Regency, Leela, The Intercontinental (I think, it%26#39;s called th Lalit now.)

I have done the same drive several times. 3:00 p.m. is a good time to leave Pune since it means you will out of the hill ghats and the highways before it gets dark.

When you enter Mumbai (past Vashi) the traffic thickens. You will need the 4 hours that sandy referred to.

Best airport hotel is the ITC Maratha (easy to identify by its distinctive curved shape), where you won%26#39;t just ';spend a few hours'; - you%26#39;ll very much enjoy their exquisite dining. There are multiple restaurants to choose from; with different cuisines. Their bar is the most popular hangout near the airport. They are a 2-5 minute drive from the international airport. Enjoy yourself.

You may spend your pre departure time at the Lotus cafe of JW Mariott also, it%26#39;s a top of the league hotel. Lotus Cafe%26#39;s huge windows open to a lotus pond and the Arabian Sea in the distance.

JWM is located just 6 KMs from the airport and the taxi should take no more than 10-15 minutes from.

Another good choice is Orhid Ecotel Hotel, just adjacent to the domestic airport. It%26#39;s restaurant the Boulevard offers excellent dinner buffet.

JW Mariott is not advised since it%26#39;s out of the way from the international airport. They%26#39;ll need to add another 1/2 hour to reach the airport from JW.

I don%26#39;t have a high opinion of the food at Orchid Ecotel. Also it is near the domestic airport, not the international airport. Vehicles coming from Pune will often cut through before Deonar towards the international airport and not go near either JWM or the domestic airport.
