Hi gang, thought this time instead of just putting a hotel review up I%26#39;d give this a try, so please bare with me!
As some of you may know we were lucky enough to be in Goa for xmas (hate being home here for it) and within 3 or 4 days of coming home we had booked to go back! We had raved so much about it the couple who run our local club (L %26amp; P) asked if they could come too - hence the title!
Day of departure - we had booked the airport lounge in Gatwick, our friends didn%26#39;t even know that one existed - what a fantastic afternoon - a great way not only to start your holiday but the best way to fly with Monarch - p**sed lol (By the way the internet is ￡1 for 20 mins, I got lucky time wise and had a great crack with some Trippies, thanks, you know who you are!)
Arrival in Goa - Yeah! Good old Monarch beat the Thomson flight in - bargain - only had to wait about 3/4 of an hour instead of ? ? ? Usual chaos at the airport and then out to our bus (beating off the porters lol) L %26amp; P were a bit gobsmacked but chilled (thanks to the airport lounge).
Journey down was a bit long, more stops this time but lovely to see a little bit more of Goa than we would have seen in a taxi (definately a taxi back though and in fact both ways next time, been there, done that and got the teeshirt!)
Casa De Cris - we had told L %26amp; P that Goan accommodation is basic but they were both very pleasantly surprised at the standard, the size of the room and the bed, the factilites and the outlook. Absolutely shattered (p**sed) - two options, sleep, beach! Cases opened, beach stuff on and away to go! L %26amp; P%26#39;s faces as they took their first look at the beach was priceless! We had a fantastic day on the beach, just carried on drinking and then collapsed in heap after their first Goan sunset. Excellent sleep and then we were ready for our first proper day.
When OH and I were going out xmas time we had lots of ideas of things to do, unfortunately we got so relaxed immediately we did the sum total of nothing, zilch, nada, s*d all! This time with L %26amp; P with us we had decided that at the very least we would get the local bus to Margoa and a tuk tuk back, just to have the experience - guess what - L %26amp; P relaxed immediately too! So sorry everyone, we can not recommend anything outside 2 km of Casa De Cris! lol
We did walk for miles along the beach - L %26amp; P, like us, could not believe how wonderful the beach was (we live on the Gower which is supposed to have the best beaches in the world, yeah right!). We were like 4 kids out on our walks, chasing the crabs to see where their homes/holes were lol Obviously, then back to James%26#39; beach shack for a few more drinkie poos to watch the sun going down, bliss!
We ended up doing exactly the same as we did at xmas - we went on Steve%26#39;s boat trip twice (book at James%26#39; or Mike%26#39;s Place) - around ￡10 a head, starts 10 ish, out to sea to see the dolphins and then back to the River Sal for a very relaxing cruise. You can have as much as you want to drink (I got poured off the first time lol), lunch consists of garlic butter prawns, kingfish with rice and vegetable curry (you can ask to have chicken instead of fish) and a fruit salad. Steve (one of the Barretto brothers) also had entertainment on board and we all had a great singalong and a bit of a bop. Really good value and an excellent day out (can%26#39;t wait to do it again next xmas).
We also did Mike%26#39;s beach party twice. Again book at Mike%26#39;s Place, he provides transport down and back as his shack is down by the Leela (2 kms, great to walk in the day but not in the night). Goan dancers, fire eaters (sorry but the highlight the first night was the bloke%26#39;s ponytail catching fire hehehe - I know, I%26#39;ve a very sick sense of humour) and finally Charlie Chaplin gets everyone up dancing. Oh, nearly forgot to mention that the food is fantastic!
I had my 50th out there - what a fab night - bless! Mike%26#39;s Place had put balloons up on our umbrella and their wonderful staff even came and sang to me, altogether now, ahhh lol Thanks to everyone for their good wishes! Hope you have such a special night too Badgerlad!
When we were leaving L and I were in tears (I know, soft g*ts). OH (he who said that we would never go to the same place twice) said to Tony (manager of Casa De Cris) hopefully see you xmas time! Yeah!
To sum up - wonderful staff, wonderful place, beautiful beaches, fantastic weather, most relaxing holiday destination we have ever been to. Would our virgins go back - YES! Would the ?semi virgins? go back - YES! Just wish we could be there with Meerkat and Charity to celebrate Badgerlad%26#39;s %26#39;big%26#39; (bless him) birthday!
We are now offically %26#39;Saga Louts%26#39; and have agreed to grow old discracfully - but lets hope that we can do it in Goa! Oh, on that note, looking for sponsership to become the new Bruahy - cheap to keep as the Gin is less than ￡3 a bottle! hehehe

Great review Linda and glad Goa was just as good the 2nd time around. Will probably bump into you if you do go back at Christmas though don%26#39;t think I could keep up with your drinking lol.

It was a bit of a worry when we went to Mike%26#39;s beach party the second time when the waiter came to our table and said %26#39;you are big drinkers, why not have a bottle of Vodka and a bottle of Gin, it will be cheaper for you%26#39; lol
I think what he meant was that it would free up the waiters to serve other people hehehe
I%26#39;m sure that, if I manage to coax OH to go out xmas time, we can have a few sherbets together!

Great report Linda, you do make me laugh. So glad you enjoyed it again and had a wonderful birthday and happy I am having the last laugh now with 10 days to go. Thanks for sharing that. I hope you do manage to go for Xmas again, we are going this time for Xmas and New Year, always go in january and february.

Just like Goa it was fantastic.....
