We are back

In Goa that is

We travelled with Sri Lanka Airways, a good airline that have screwed up their schedules due to the reduced numbers flying.

Our direct flight to Sri Lanka is now via the Maldives and the flight to Goa which we have now missed is the next day, so are put up in a hotel one and a half hours drive from the airport

I now remember what it is I disliked about Sri Lanka

1 The Rain....... .It poured with rain all the daylight hours that we were there

2. The Roads ....Once you are off the main highway you are shaken to pieces on pot holed tracks though slums and industrial estates with police check points to get to your 4* hotel

3. Isolation........Your hotel is on the wind swept rocky coast in the middle of nowhere surround by a security fence and armed guards

4. The Food.......Your all inclusive hotel only serves buffet meals kept warm on Bunsen burners and a beer costs 400 Rs a pint.

5. Company.......Your posh hotel has 200 plus rooms but only 25 guests some where about the complex

We were told that a taxi would pick us up at 2-30 for our 5-40 flight to Goa but turned up at 1-30 but who cares we landed in Goa at 7-30 local time the sun was shining, the birds were singing, the people smiling and laughing...... Oh how I love Goa and the People ...Oh happy days are here again

The good news is Sri Lanka Airways stop flying to Goa from the end of this month and have sold the landing rights to Kingfisher so we won%26#39;t be going back that way in June ..... I am soooooo Happy I nearly wet myself

wow your experiences of Sri Lanka are very different to mine but happy you got there, once you are there the journey is quickly forgotten! have a good time :)
