Should I choose Sikkim?

I will be in working in Guwahati in May and have 7-10 days afterward to travel. I was considering Sikkim and would appreciate any insight and/or suggestions for that and other areas easily reached from this part of India.

Should I choose Sikkim?

Well, Sikkim is gloriously beautiful, and May is a good month when the rhododendrons are in bloom, so don%26#39;t lose the opportunity to explore it.

Here%26#39;s an itinerary that was posted by another traeller recently:

Should I choose Sikkim?

Sikkim is a definate yes, only since May is the peak season it would be advisable to get your bookings done in advance. The itenary posted is good, you have a choice between Kalimpong or Pelling with Gangtok and Darjeeling common.

If you are into wildlife then you may like to visit Kaziranga Sanctuary, famous for Rhinos and Manas National Park, for Tigers.

Also you might think of obtaining a permit for visiting Twang in Arunachal pradesh. The journey will probably be the most picturesque journey. Waterfall at Jang, Sela lake, the Twang monastery, it%26#39;s all magical... A place seen to be believed.

Kalimpong is a lovely little town %26amp; Holumba is a wonderful place to stay. Check out www.holumba.com for info. Also don%26#39;t miss Pelling. Garuda Guesthouse in Pelling is good value %26amp; also Mintokling Guest house in Gangtok is great too. We took shared jeeps and buses all over %26amp; spent 2 weeks just marvelling at the scenery-rivers, mountains, flowers %26amp; so clean compared to many places in India. The Tibetan monasteries in Pelling %26amp; Gangtok are something special. There is a helicopter you can take to return to Siliguri where the New Shanti Guesthouse is very clean %26amp; has helpful owners. Good luck.
