Trek from Rishikesh to Badrinath on foot(old pilgrim route)

Hi,

I am contemplating trekking in the pilgrims footsteps from Rishikesh to Badrinath.I will be doing it solo and sometime between mid Apr and Mid May %26#39;09.Intend following the trail taken by the pilgrims of yore before the motor road came up.Its not a religious trip but for the heck and kick of it.What exactly is the route and what advise.I am an Indian and a Dehli%26#39;te.

The old pilgrims route has been converted into the motorable road and there is no separate trekking route now.

The route is Rishikesh - Devprayag-Sringar-Rudraprayag-Gauchar-Chamoli-Joshimath-Badrinath.

As the earlier post suggested there is a perfectly motorable road now.My father had done the trek earlier on foot from Rishikesh to Badrinath and Kedarnath.Now maybe you can try Vasudhara,Satopanth,Dodital or Roopkund trek.
